Preparing your old books

Before we begin, you'll need to give your old books a quick tidy. Please take a look at our Pre-conversion Checklist Tasks to ensure your books are good to go.

Any FreshBooks file containing 100 or more journal entry/transaction lines cannot be supported, hence, conversion for this file will fail. In addition, Dataswitcher cannot convert and post vendor transactions to QuickBooks Online. This means that any transaction from FreshBooks that arise from a bill or a bill payment will not be converted. This is due to FreshBooks' API limitations. Please check our conversion limitations for more details.

Reset your QuickBooks account

To make room for the data we're moving, you'll need to remove any existing data in your QuickBooks file. To do this you'll need to reset your QuickBooks account to the default settings. If you don't, we won't be able to complete moving your data into QuickBooks and your move will be unsuccessful.

Don't use QuickBooks until the move is complete

Moving your books into QuickBooks can take up to 72 hours. While the move is in progress, any data added or imported through data feeds into QuickBooks will be lost.
